2025 CHALK IT UP!
Opening Reception
FRIDAY, MARCH 28 | 5:30PM – 7:30PM
Chalk It Up! is an immersive, large-scale street painting experience. Professional and emerging visual artists create larger-than-life, bold images in pastel directly on pavement for all to watch.
This colorful three-day celebration will also feature live performances by local musicians, artisan craft booths and food trucks. The festival is FREE and open to the public.
On Friday March 28, Chalk It Up! —Beaufort’s most colorful festival— kicks off with an Opening Reception Cultural Open House. This Event is FREE and OPEN TO THE PUBLIC.
The Opening Reception will be held 5:30-7:30 pm in the Tabby Place at 913 Port Republic Street—adjacent to the parking lot where chalk artists from around the country will be creating fantastic chalk art the following two days, March 29-30!
The reception is all about connecting with people to enjoy and appreciate our lowcountry culture, its diversity and its vibrance. The evening’s very special entertainment includes a snippet from Aunt Pearlie Sue and the Gullah Kinfolk’s new stage production “Da Dreamers: Robert Smalls and Martin Luther King”, and a fascinating presentation by Historian Valinda W. Littlefield on the first regiment of Black Soldiers during the Civil War.
Enjoy some light fare while meeting the visiting chalk artists and learn about some of the opportunities to participate many of our area’s cultural outlets— from visual art, to music, to theatre.
